St Edmundsbury Cathedral Becomes Registered Charity

We are delighted to announce that St Edmundsbury Cathedral is now a registered charity.

After tireless hard work from our Chief Operating Officer, Sarah-Jane Allison, we can announce that the final stage of our governance restructure has been completed and on 2 May we were officially given charity status.

The Cathedral Church of Saint James and Saint Edmund, Bury St Edmunds is now established as a charity and our Chapter Members are now trustees of this new charity.

Our Registered Charity Number is 1202911.

More information about our statutes and governance is available under the Governance page.

Following our new status, we are looking to appoint additional independent non-executive members to join Chapter which is the Board of Trustees of the Cathedral. Chapter is accountable for the governance, strategic direction and management of the Cathedral, and has ultimate responsibility for the care, maintenance and development of the Cathedral estate, all aspects of Cathedral activity, and for securing its long- term viability and financial sustainability.

We foster an environment of inclusivity and welcome applications from all age groups, backgrounds and Christian denominations in which you may belong to. We also encourage applications from those who are not local to the Cathedral but may have a strong influential affiliation with Suffolk.
