Friends of the Cathedral Choirs

The Friends of the Cathedral Choirs (FOCC) supports and promotes the work of the Cathedral Choirs and the musical life of the Cathedral.

The FOCC undertakes a wide variety of fundraising projects and provides financial support for the Choirs for a range of activities and initiatives promoting education and training in choral singing. This includes support for Choir tours in the UK and abroad, recordings, visits and the organisation of social events.

Membership of FOCC is open to all and is one way in which members of the Cathedral Community and the public at large can support the choristers and the wonderful provision of music that is an integral part of cathedral life.

Help us support the Cathedral Choristers and the Cathedral Choirs

The St Edmundsbury Cathedral Choirs work to the highest standards to provide music for the Cathedral’s services. There is no Cathedral choir school and the boys and girls attend many different schools, some travelling considerable distances each day to attend practice.

The choristers are very dedicated and show tremendous commitment, often at the expense of other interests and in addition to their school activities. The Lay Clerks are all volunteers and sing four or more services each week. The FOCC’s primary objective is to raise funds to support activities that augment the choristers’ music education and provide special experiences for the choirs, such as tours, recordings, concerts and visits.

What the FOCC does

FOCC’s primary focus is fundraising to support the choirs and this is achieved through a broad and innovative range of initiatives. We organise a wide variety of fun and social events for the choristers, cathedral community and general public and we promote awareness of the Cathedral Choirs.
