Friends of the Cathedral Choirs

Friends of the Cathedral Choirs (FOCC) supports and promotes the work of the Cathedral Choirs and the musical life of the Cathedral.

FOCC raises money to provide financial support for the Choirs for a range of activities promoting education and training in choral singing. This includes support for Choir tours, recordings and the organisation of social events.

Financial support given since 2021:
  • Choir photograph: £310
  • Choir robes and jumpers: £1,489
  • Choir Tour to Leipzig: £17,200
  • Choir Tour to Wells Cathedral: £5,500
  • New Psalters: £527
  • St Edmundsbury Singers Tour to Worcester: £1,900
  • Choir Tour to Normandy: £26,000

Membership of FOCC is open to all and is a way members of the Cathedral Community and the public at large can support choristers and the wonderful provision of music that is an integral part of cathedral life.

Help us support the Cathedral Choristers and the Cathedral Choirs

The St Edmundsbury Cathedral Choirs work to the highest standards to provide music for the Cathedral’s services. There is no Cathedral choir school and the boys and girls attend many different schools, some travelling considerable distances to attend daily practice. The choristers are very dedicated and show tremendous commitment in addition to their school activities. The Lay Clerks are all volunteers and sing four or more services each week.
