Remembering Together

On Saturday 18 September a special service takes place at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, called ‘Remembering Together’.

The service, which starts at 3.00 pm, is for all who have experienced the death of a child, whatever their age and whatever the cause.

This is an annual service of readings, music and prayer. All are welcome.

Canon Matthew Vernon has oversight of all pastoral matters at the Cathedral.  ‘This service offers people the time and space to be together with others who have suffered a similar experience,’ comments Canon Vernon.  ‘We hope to provide support and comfort at this moment, while acknowledging that the sense of bereavement may continue, for some, for the rest of their lives.’

Clergy and health professionals work together to offer this service in response to an awareness that people often try to deal with these sorts of issues on their own, when in fact there are many ways to gain support and help.
