Generosity Week 2022

“Our faith starts with the most generous gift of all – God’s gift to us of life itself and new life and new hope in Jesus Christ. What we call ‘generosity’ is just our response to these great gifts.” – The Right Reverend Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York

National Generosity Week starts on 25 September 2022. Generosity is a word that encompasses a lot: showing kindness, sharing your time, helping and serving your community and church, as well as financial giving.

As part of the celebration of generosity, the Church of England have produced some podcasts that explore what it means to be generous. A different person shares a short passage of scripture and a key verse – from the Old and New Testament. They reflect on what it means in their Christian life and encourage the listener to do the same. You can find out more about the podcasts, and listen, here.

Each podcast is accompanied by a daily reflection and activity to help us to reflect on God’s generosity and activate it in our daily lives. The Church of England recommend listening to an episode each day over Generosity Week, perhaps when going for a short walk or over a cup of tea during a break.

“The stories in these podcasts, reflections and resources are moving, inspiring and encouraging. Just like in the parable of the sower, where the seed that falls on good soil grows a crop a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown, we see that every generous act grows further generosity.” – The Right Reverend Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York
