In Quires and Places Where They Sing: Book Tour Talk by Tim Popple
NOW OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
A glimpse into the world of the choral singer led by Tim Popple, Alto Lay Clerk at Bristol Cathedral and self-professed ‘choral nerd’. In his book Evensong: Notes from the Choir, Tim writes:
Being a chorister is different… one does not ‘do singing’; one is a chorister. It is not something you do, it is something you are…
On Friday 8 May, Tim arrives at St Edmundsbury Cathedral as part of his book tour. He will give an entertaining talk about his life as a choral singer and the world of choral music, including reading excerpts from his book, which is both heart-warming and thought-provoking. Whether you are a regular Evensong-goer or this world is new to you, Tim’s enthusiasm is infectious. Afterwards, there will be a Q&A, as well as a chance to purchase Tim’s book. Drinks will be on sale before and after the talk. You are warmly encouraged to attend Evensong first to get you in the mood!
Event timings:
5.30 pm – 6.05 pm – Evensong sung by the Cathedral Choir
6.10 pm – bar opens
6.30 pm – c7.15 pm – talk by Tim Popple and Q&A (Cathedral)
