Children & Teen Activities this Easter

St Edmundsbury Cathedral has a great offering of free children’s activities this Easter, from little ones to teens!

On Palm Sunday 10 April at 9.00 am we’ll have a special guest at the All-Age Eucharist and we encourage children to come and meet the donkey!

On Tuesday 12, Friday 15, Tuesday 19 and Friday 22 we’re welcoming 9-16 year olds (families and carers welcome) to The Yard. The Yard is a social action project for young people at St Edmundsbury Cathedral. With funding from the Dulverton Trust in partnership with The Lottery Heritage Fund, our aim is to create a dedicated place for young people in the Cathedral gardens.

The Yard activities will run from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm and include weaving living willow flowers, planting vegetables and flowers, upcycling old furniture and walking in the Abbey Gardens. Tools and gloves provided – but be prepared to get messy! Lunch provided for children whose families are eligible for free school meals, pupil premium or have an identified need (pre-booking required).

People of all faiths and none are all welcome to join these holiday activity sessions. Find us in the Cathedral grounds, through the wooden gates, opposite the Pilgrim’s Kitchen café. For more information, you can contact Jane on 07747 540 594

On Friday 15 April at 4.00 pm we have our Good Friday Service. This is a 30 minute service telling the Good Friday story for all ages followed by free hot cross buns in Pilgrims’ Kitchen. The on Sunday 17 April at 9.00 am we have the Alleluia All Age Eucharist for Easter Sunday with egg hunt! This is followed by Junior Church at 10.30 am with stories and crafts for children.

We’ll be focusing on the ‘new life’ element of Easter, as well as Spring, on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 April during our children’s art and craft activities. They will be making cress caterpillars, origami insects, planting wildflower seeds and lots more! These sessions run from 10.00 am – 12.00 pm

We round off the Easter break with our Young Families Baby and Toddler group upstairs in Edmund Room on Friday 22 April at 10.00 am

All sessions are free to attend but donations are always welcome.
