Cathedral Choir Launches New CD
St Edmundsbury Cathedral Choir of boys, girls and adults have recorded a new collection of music that will be available on CD from the St Edmundsbury Cathedral Shop from Monday 8 July.
The new CD, A Year at St Edmundsbury, includes music by contemporary composers Paul Trepte, James MacMillan, Ghislaine Reece-Trapp, Sally Beamish, Mark Blatchly and Sarah MacDonald as well as familiar pieces by Bairstow, Stanford, Howells and Robert Parsons.
Timothy Parsons, Director of Music at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, says, “We’re hugely excited that our new CD of choral music, ‘A Year at St Edmundsbury’, is now available for purchase. The first recording the Cathedral Choir since before the pandemic, and therefore the first to include our Girl Choristers and Vicars Choral, it is a celebration of music from across the Cathedral’s year, starting with the season of Advent and moving through Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter and more. As well as many well-known items, we are pleased to be including much new and previously unrecorded repertoire, some of which has been composed specially for us.”
