Remembering Together Service for Those Who Have Experienced the Death of a Child

On Saturday 20 September, a special service will take place at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, called ‘Remembering Together’. The service, which starts at 3.00 pm, is for all who have experienced the death of a child, whatever their age and whatever the cause.

This is an annual service of readings, music and prayer. All are welcome, from all faiths of none. Space is given to remember, grieve and find connection with others who have experienced a similar loss.

The Reverend Canon Matthew Vernon, Canon Pastor at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, says, “This service offers people the opportunity be with others who have experienced the death of a child, whether recent or in the past. We hope to provide a space for support and comfort at this moment, while acknowledging that although grief evolves and changes over time, it is always with us. Clergy and health professionals work together to offer this service in response to an awareness that people often try to deal with these sorts of issues on their own, when in fact there are many ways to gain support and help.”
