The Finance Committee must keep the activities and management of the Cathedral under review. It is responsible for monitoring and reviewing the overall financial strategies and financial policies of the Chapter and making recommendations as appropriate to Chapter. It has oversight of the financial procedures and delegations across the Cathedral and makes recommendations to Chapter as required.
Paul was born in County Durham and read Modern Languages at St John’s College, Cambridge, where he also sang in the choir. He spent his career in the insurance industry, specialising in political risk and working mainly with French, German and Italian clients. He retired in 2021. Paul is involved with his local church, Holton St Mary where he sits on the PCC and acts as Churchwarden and Treasurer. He is a Governor of the Royal Hospital School and is a Trustee of Brass for Africa, a UK-registered charity working with highly disadvantaged young people in Uganda. He occasionally sings with the Cathedral Choir.
Susannah qualified as a Chartered Accountant twenty years ago and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales. Susannah most recently was a Chief Financial Officer in the Insurance Sector, having worked in the sector her whole career. Susannah has a firm understanding of the strategies, governance and regulatory requirements necessary for businesses to operate in their financial environment. In recent years, Susannah has moved to Bury St Edmunds, with her family, in order for her son to become a Cathedral chorister and the whole family is part of the Cathedral community, volunteering with the Friends of Cathedral Choirs and worshipping weekly.
Kevin joined the RAF at 17 and served fifteen years as a simulator technician before entering industry. Specialising in complex projects and business turnarounds, in the USA, Europe and UK. Qualified in both electronics engineering and computing, he further studied for a Masters in project management at the University of Lancaster, and is a member of the Institute of Directors. Kevin is a Vice-President for an international aerospace and defence company founded by the Wright Brothers.
Andrew has over 25 years’ experience as a tax adviser in large accountancy practices. Specialising in the provision of tax advice to charities and other non-profit organisations across the UK, Andrew has a sound understanding of the regulatory, business and financial environment in which charities operate. As Treasurer of a local Parochial Church Council for for over ten years, Andrew has been responsible for the financial management of a number of significant successful capital projects. Andrew is an Observer Member of the Charity Tax Group, and represents the Chartered Institute of Taxation on HM Revenue & Customs’ Charity Tax Forum.
