Helping others

The current crisis has shown us that community spirit is alive and well with many examples of kindness and neighbourliness. Many people find themselves confined to home. But others, following the Government’s guidelines, are able to help in the community.

Here are some tips on staying safe as a volunteer.

The NHS staff are doing such a wonderful job at present. You may wish to support our local NHS Trust at the West Suffolk Hospital. Find out more here

The local foodbank, Gatehouse, also needs financial support. Donations can be made via their LocalGiving page.

Supporting the Storehouse Foodbank

The Cathedral supports this food bank via our Mothers’ Union. If you are already collecting food for Storehouse then thank you.

Donations can be safely dropped off at the West Suffolk Vineyard church office or contact the office on 01284 765874 or

Volunteers contribute a huge amount to the work of Edmundsbury Cathedral and play lay a vital role in supporting our work. We have over 300 volunteers who help by tending the gardens, welcoming visitors and other behind the scenes activities.

If you would like to be part of this thriving and energetic group, do let us know.
