New faces at the Cathedral

We are pleased to welcome several new faces at the Cathedral in September.

Ben Edwards joins as Cathedral curate. Ben studied at Westcott House for two years and served his first two years of curacy at Beccles Parish before moving here to Bury St Edmunds with the family to serve his final year of curacy. He is married to Caroline and has three children Isadora (11), Bertie (7) and Trinity (3).

Anita Rooney joins as the Cathedral Ordinand. Anita’s study is full time with the Eastern Region Ministry Course (ERMC) and she lives locally, just outside Bury St Edmunds. She is married to Kevin and they have three grown-up children

The Music department welcomes:

Naomi Sturges – Naomi is the new Music and Liturgy Administrator – she studied music at the University of York, and lives in Dennington with her partner, Chris. Prior to her arrival here, Naomi worked for Suffolk’s Fram Farmers.

William Saunders – Freelance Music Advisor: William will be supporting us on a temporary basis whilst the Cathedral is without a permanent Director of Music. He will assist Richard Cook in the running of the cathedral’s music department, play the organ and get involved with all the choirs at the Cathedral. William is a former Head of Music at the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook, and maintains a busy freelance career as a distinguished recitalist.

Elli-Mae McGlone – Elli-Mae joins us as our new Derek Marsden Organ Scholar and we would like to offer our sincere thanks to the Derek Marsden Fund for their generous support. She has previously held the position of Organ Scholar at Doncaster Minster. The scholarship is funded through King Edward VI School, where she will be working as their School Musician in Residence.

Emily Mustoe – Emily joins us as the Cathedral Choral Scholar this year. She was previously head chorister at Worcester Cathedral. This scholarship is funded through County Upper School, where she too will be working as their School Musician in Residence.
