Love Singing? Audition to be a chorister

The Cathedral is recruiting for choristers and would love to hear from young people, girls or boys, aged 7-22, who would like to join one of its choirs.

Applications are welcome from children and young people in education in or near Bury St Edmunds.

All that is needed is a passion for singing, a love of learning and the enjoyment of a challenge!

There is an audition to join the choir.

‘We look mostly for potential and a love of singing,’ comments Richard Cook, Acting Director of Music. ‘Being a chorister is a hugely enriching experience. It is about being part of a close-knit team, whilst receiving a first-rate musical education and getting to perform in the beautiful setting of the Cathedral.’

Auditions can be scheduled at any time. At the audition potential choristers are asked to sing a simple hymn or carol of their choice and participate in some straightforward ear tests. Being a fluent reader with good concentration is important.
