Jubilee Service to showcase flowers from internationally acclaimed Florist

St Edmundsbury Cathedral’s Platinum Jubilee County Service, in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, will feature floral displays from Harald Altmaier, an internationally acclaimed, London-based florist, who has previously worked with the Royal Family.

Harald, who has a portfolio of famous clients, has been a regular visitor to Bury St Edmunds over several decades and welcomes the opportunity to acknowledge the warm hospitality he has always received from his many Suffolk based connections.

His floral installations will be erected in the Cathedral on Friday June 10 with the support of St Edmundbury Cathedral’s, Sue Cockram and her team of skilled local arrangers. Members of the public who wish to view the display can do so while the Cathedral is open to visitors on Friday (10.00 am to 5.30 pm) and Saturday (10.00 am to 2.00 pm).

Both the Dean, Joe Hawes, and The Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, Clare, Countess of Euston, are delighted that Harald’s scheme will incorporate English flowers known to be favourites of Her Majesty. It will also include greenery from the Euston Hall Estate.

The Rev’d Canon Philip Banks, who is responsible for all the Cathedral’s worship, says, “English flowers for our Queen – we are more than excited that Harald Altmaier is willing to create this floral display for our Platinum Jubilee celebrations here in the Cathedral, for all our visitors and local people to enjoy. As we mark this year Her Majesty’s seventy years of service and loyalty, may the beauty of flowers give us thankful hearts and inspire us to be, like the Queen, people of loving care and service”.
