We welcome Stellarum from San Diego to St Edmundsbury Cathedral in July. The choir will be singing 5.30 pm Evensong in the Cathedral on Monday 8 July and giving a recital at 1.00 pm on Tuesday 9 July.

Stellarum is a leading San Diego-based, 18 strong, choir on its first international tour. While in the UK they will be singing in many venues, including St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle and St Edmundsbury Cathedral.

Stellarum was founded in 2020 by British composer and choral director Benjamin Thiele-Long who has worked with professional and amateur choirs across the UK. He was formerly a choral scholar of Royal Holloway and founder/director of the London chamber choir Lumen. Featuring a diverse mix of 18 singers – including scientists, engineers, lawyers and teachers –  they’ve been featured in national press and performed to great acclaim across San Diego, including performances at the renowned Conrad Prebys Center, and Petco Park; San Diego’s national Major League Baseball Stadium.

The “Music for Monarchs and Saints” tour is Stellarum’s first international tour and includes seven concerts and special sung services. In addition to singing Choral Evensong services St George’s Chapel Windsor Castle and St Edmundsbury Cathedral, they will perform at Gainsborough’s house and three different churches across Suffolk, including a special concert at St Nicholas Denston to celebrate the Church’s 550th anniversary, and feature three world premier choral works.
