Norman Tower Visits: Heritage Open Days

The Norman Tower will be open for Heritage Open Days this autumn. Visitors will be able to enjoy a brief history of the Norman Tower, find out information about the bells in the Tower and hear about the art of bellringing. This will include a demonstration of bellringing. There are timed visits lasting 45 minutes.

 

The Norman Tower was previously the main gateway to the Abbey. The Norman Tower is detached from the Cathedral and was built between 1120 and 1148 and is one of the oldest Norman buildings in the UK and one of the most complete Norman buildings in England.

 

There will be free tours at 9.45 am, 10.45 am, 11.45 am and 1.30 pm, 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm. Limited numbers so please do book. Click here to secure a space.

 

They will also be open on Thursday 12 September from 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm for free-flow visits. No need to book and come along at any time.
