The regular series of Celebrity Organ Recitals is back!  Starting on 18 June, enjoy magnificent music on the Cathedral’s Harrison and Harrison organ from the Cathedral’s own musicians and visiting organists.

Recitals start at 5.00 pm and no pre-booking is required. Admission is free and there will be a retiring collection.

Mark Shephard

Programme to include Elgar’s Imperial March as well as music by Vierne, Saint-Saens, Max Reger, and by William Byrd, who died 400 years ago this year.

 

2 July
Timothy Parsons
Director of Music, St Edmundsbury Cathedral

Programme to include J. S. Bach’s Fantasia and Fugue in G minor, music by contemporary composer Judith Bingham, and Maurice Duruflé’s beautiful Prelude, Adagio et Choral Varié sur le theme du “Veni Creator”.

Programme to include Healey Willan’s epic Introduction, Passacaglia and Fugue, as well as music by contemporary Canadian organist and composer Rachel Laurin.

Programme to include Cesar Franck’s Choral in A minor and Marcel Dupre’s exuberant Prelude and Fugue in B major

 

3 September

Programme to include C. H. H. Parry’s Fantasia and Fugue in G, the first movement of Edward Elgar’s Organ Sonata, and J. S. Bach’s virtuosic Prelude and Fugue in D major.
