Bury Festival: Tallis Scholars
As part of the Bury Festival, the Tallis Scholars will be performing at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
A welcome return by The Tallis Scholars and their director Peter Philips, with a programme of works by Renaissance composers that worked in the Sistine Chapel and wrote for the choir there. Many of the pieces in this programme can be identified as having been specifically written for that building, while Alex Campkin’s work was commissioned by The Tallis Scholars as a partnership piece for Allegri’s Miserere. The framework for the programme is a composite mass by Palestrina.
