Our Christmas season begins on Thursday 24 November when we open our doors for the Cathedral Christmas Market. The Market will welcome 50+ local stall holders and runs through to Saturday 26 November. Festive Tower Tours will be available as well as the opportunity to meet Inka the Polar Bear and her cubs!

Our special services begin on Sunday 27 November our Candlelit Advent Procession is at 5.00 pm. Our Cathedral choir will light their way through the Cathedral with beautiful prayers, carols and readings. On Sunday 18 December we join for music, carols and quiet reflection to remember those for whom Christmas may be difficult in our Longest Night Service. Nine Lessons and Carols takes place on Friday 23 December with traditional readings, carols, and candle-lighting.

We have a very special event on Saturday 10 December, Christmas with the Cathedral Choir! Join the boy and girl Choristers, together with the adult singers of the choir, who will be performing a range of wonderful music for the season, together with plenty of opportunity for you to join in with your favourite Christmas tunes.

Especially for families, please join our Family Christmas Crafts on 19 and 20 December from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm. Then we have our Crib Service on Saturday 24 December at 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm when we gather for 30 minutes to tell the Christmas story, sing carols and light candles.

We’ll be hosting a variety of carol services in December with West Suffolk Council Carol Service on 5 December where we pray for and celebrate the life of our local community. Monday 12 December sees the Emergency Services Carol Service where we will be alongside those who work in our emergency services.

There are some special guests this season with Queen in the Cathedral at Christmas on 3 December where we’ll be treated to classic Queen hits from tribute band, Monarchy. G4 return for their Christmas show on 17 December. Join Jonathan, Lewis, Mike and Duncan as they recall the musical experiences of their childhoods. Expect to hear timeless classics such as When A Child is Born, Silent Night and All I Want For Christmas, as well as delightful medleys to evoke the Christmas spirit.

Our Christmas Day services start with Midnight Mass at 11.00 pm on Saturday 24 December then continue with an 8.00 am Holy Communion on Christmas day, followed by a 10.30 am Choral Christmas Eucharist before our 3.30 pm Prayers around the Crib.

We hope to welcome you throughout the celebration of Christmas.
